The Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund has granted the Cathedral Archer Project £388,000 over the next three years to deliver a new and exciting programme to develop client volunteers and activities, called First Steps to Stability. The funding will enable the project to help more clients progress away from the homeless [...] It was a cold and noisy night but the 27 intrepid participants stayed the course and slept out on the Cathedral Forecourt and raised over £7,000 for the Cathedral Archer Project. The Lord Mayor came to see everyone to start the event off and there were representatives from Cadburys (Kraft), Irwin Mitchell, Sheffield City [...] It has been 20 years since the congregation at Sheffield Cathedral first gave tea and toast to the homeless that came in for shelter during the morning services. To mark the occasion, volunteers gave the congregation tea and toast after their service on Sunday. Enjoying toast We have also launched an appeal [...] We received a lovely thank you note this week. We know that the people we work with are wonderful and kind but not everyone thinks that. I thought you might like to read for yourselves. The thank you came on a postcard and was typed and headed SHEFFIELD CATHEDRAL ARCHER PROJECT and continued: Will [...] When the group of 11 South Yorkshire bankers slept out on the Cathedral forecourt in the January cold, they had set themselves a huge target to raise £4,000 to support the Cathedral Archer Project. This week they handed over a cheque for £5,050 to the fundraising manager, Tracy Viner. In total contrast to the [...] Tim Renshaw – came in first out of the Cathedral Archer Project Team on the recent 10K challenge. We actually, Tim Devey, the nurse that comes into the project 3 times a week to support our clients came in third out of everyone, and first from our small team. Tim Renshaw came in [...] Des Bellamy, the CAP Drug Worker, is joining Tim and Anne at the FSI 10k challenge run on Saturay 5th June 2010 at Thornbridge Hall, Derbyshire, to raise funds for the us. Des is now stepping up his fitness regime to catch up with the rigiorous training schedule Anne and Tim have been following since [...] Client Posters Last month a jury ruled that the person crushed following sleeping in a wheelie bin in Brighton prompted a special lesson at the Cathedral Archer Project. Clients were asked if they had ever taken shelter from the wind or rain in an industrial bin. Everyone in the group of 7 had. [...] Are you up to a challenge?
