To celebrate volunteer week 2022, we sat down with two of our amazing volunteers, Janice and Julia to ask them about their experiences in volunteering for The Archer Project.
Janice started volunteering with us in December 2021 as she was passionate about helping the homeless community. She helps all over the centre, from working in the kitchen to running a weekly crafting club.
She says: “I really wanted to do more, so I decided to start volunteering at The Archer Project and I love it. I really enjoy meeting the people who come and use the centre and I like running the crafting club as it gives me an opportunity to make things to brighten the place up.”
Next up is Julia who has been volunteering with us for over two years now. She started just before the pandemic and was a huge help during that time. She assisted the project by packing takeaway meal bags for the people we support. Now she spends her time at the project helping people to make important phone calls or manning the reception area to welcome our visitors. Julia says her favourite thing about volunteering with us is the opportunity to ‘see another side of life’ and it allows her to reflect on her own character.
This volunteers week we’d like to thank all of our volunteers for the amazing work they do. We couldn’t do what we do without each and every one of you.
