On Monday 26th October, Tim Renshaw our CEO at The Archer Project was live on ITV Calendar discussing Andy Burnham's pledge to double funding and 'get rough sleepers off the streets by Christmas'.
Here's what Tim had to say on the news and breaking the cycle of homelessness:
"Well, there are three major tasks really.
"The first, is to get people off the streets into safety. We can work with people better once they're in safety.
"The second is house building. We do need good accommodation going forward - but that’s a long term project.
"But, joining those two up is the support work that we can do in places like this [The Archer Project] that helps someone who has lived on the streets and disengaged from the rest of society to start that process of re-engagement and feel more human. Understand trust, get esteem back, all that confidence.
So, someone who comes in from the front, someone who's been rough sleeping can become part of our volunteer team and understand what it starts to mean to belong again”.
