In the heart of Sheffield, The Archer Project is delivering a striking public exhibition: a mattress showroom where every bed is a cold, unforgiving concrete slab.
By adopting the familiar format of a retail showroom, Concrete Dreamz exposes the jarring disconnect between consumer comfort and the brutal realities faced by people experiencing homelessness.
Archer Project Fundraising Manager, Joe Logan says: "Housing isn't a privilege, it's a basic human right. Through Concrete Dreamz we are saying this crisis is unacceptable, it cannot be ignored and we need everyone's support to help people experiencing homelessness."
This unique installation exposes the absurdity and tragedy of rough sleeping in particular. Many of the people we support at The Archer Project are facing these demoralising and harsh conditions every day. As winter sets in, this impact is felt even more strongly.
We hope you'll join us for the Concrete Dreamz Grand Opening at 10am on Friday 28th November taking place at Bethel Chapel, 30 Cambridge Street, Sheffield City Centre, Sheffield S1 4HP.
Our showroom will be open Monday–Sunday 9am–4pm from 28th November–12th December.
We invite members of the public, local community organisations and media outlets to engage with this exhibition, as well as in the conversations it starts.
A member of our Fundraising Team will be in the shop to answer questions and engage with your responses.
Concrete Dreamz is curated by creative marketing and design agency, Black Eye Project, and forms part of The Archer Project's Winter Campaign.
The winter months are the worst time to be experiencing homelessness. The people we care for at The Archer Project need support from the community more than ever before; and that support can go twice as far thanks to Aviva's Community Fund.
